Isabelle Placentia is a Lecturer in the Department of Anthropology at California State University, San Marcos. Her research focuses on the political economy of housing, intersections of race, class, and gender, and the socio-economic impacts of foreclosure and homelessness. She specializes in Equity Orientated Collaborative Community-Based Research (EOCCBR) and collaborates with community organizations in California, Nevada, and Arizona to address housing affordability and equity issues. Currently in the final writing phase of her PhD dissertation, “Living the Statistics: The Experience of the 2008 Foreclosure Crisis and the Meaning of Homeownership,” her work includes ethnographic research documenting over 100 foreclosure narratives. She is affiliated with the UC Center for Collaborative Research for an Equitable California (CCREC), co-producing policy-focused presentations with community partners.
