About
Professor Isabelle Nocus is a University Professor of Developmental Psychology at Nantes University's Faculty of Psychology. She serves as Director of Studies for the Master's in Psychology, which includes four specialized courses, and as President of the Bachelor's Degree Teaching Committee. Professor Nocus holds the Chair 'Taking Care of Children and Young People for Their Well-being' and is affiliated with the Psychology Laboratory of Pays de la Loire (UR 4638).
Her research explores cognitive and language development in monolingual and bilingual contexts, examining how educational devices affect cognitive, conative (self-concept in languages, subjective well-being), and emotional aspects of learning. Professor Nocus has conducted international research on bilingualism across 12 countries and 17 local languages. Her work extends to school inclusion of children with special needs, including migrants and children with disabilities.
Professor Nocus has published extensively on bilingual education, child well-being, and inclusive education. Her recent publications (2022-2025) focus on teacher attitudes toward inclusive education, children's well-being in bilingual contexts, bilingual language development, and the effects of educational interventions. Her research demonstrates consistent interdisciplinary collaboration across psychology, linguistics, and educational sciences.

Professor Nocus has supervised 7 theses (with 2 in progress and an 8th beginning), and mentors numerous students through research projects and internships. Since 2006, she has participated in 22 funded research contracts, with 10 as lead coordinator, demonstrating her ability to secure significant research funding from sources including the French National Research Agency (ANR) and Youth Experimentation Funds (FEJ).
Her work is conducted through the Psychology Laboratory of Pays de la Loire, where she leads research on child development, language acquisition, and educational interventions across diverse contexts.
