Isabelle MEJEAN

Isabelle MEJEAN is a Professor in the Department of Economics at Sciences Po's School of Public Affairs. Her research focuses on international trade, macroeconomics, and the micro-foundations of global economic phenomena. She has been awarded an ERC Starting Grant for her TRADENET project investigating firm-to-firm trade networks and their implications for the international diffusion of economic shocks.

MEJEAN's research interests span international trade dynamics, pricing strategies, trade elasticities, quality measurement, price indices, and the structure of global supply chains. Her work often utilizes highly disaggregated firm-level trade data to understand how microeconomic structures affect macroeconomic outcomes, particularly in the context of international business cycle comovement and the transmission of economic shocks across borders.

Her research has revealed important insights about how firm-to-firm trade networks influence economic volatility, the role of large firms in international business cycles, and how supply chain disruptions propagate through global value chains. Recent work has examined the economic impacts of the China lockdown, price discrimination across Eurozone markets, and the relationship between economic uncertainty and trade relationships.

MEJEAN teaches Introduction to Economics for first-year students and International Trade for Master's students at Sciences Po. She has organized several academic workshops including the Barcelona GSE Summer Forum's 'Firms in the Global Economy' workshop and Sciences Po's International Trade Summer Workshop. Her research has been published in top economics journals including the American Economic Review, Journal of Political Economy, Econometrica, and Journal of International Economics.
