Prof. Dr. Isabelle Ihring is a Professor of Youth and Social Work at the Eduard von Hartmann Hochschule Freiburg. With 12 years of practical experience in social work, particularly in child welfare, her research focuses on intersectional child protection, global inequalities with a focus on colonial continuities in African nations, postcolonial and intersectional perspectives on racism, and decolonial practices in social work. She actively contributes to projects addressing racism, colonialism, and discrimination in practice. Currently, she is a Fellow at the University of Ghana, Accra, collaborating on a joint book project titled *“The Coloniality of Humanity,”* exploring motivations of African diaspora members participating in Ghana’s repatriation initiative.
Her academic engagement spans theoretical and applied social work, with emphasis on applying decolonial frameworks to social work education and practice. She integrates critical analyses of systemic racism and global power structures into her teaching and research.
