Dr. Isabelle Cheng is a Visiting Professor affiliated with the School of Area Studies, History, Politics & Literature at the University of Portsmouth. She conducted research at the European Research Center on Contemporary Taiwan from July 4 to August 3, 2022. Her work focuses on marriage and labor migration dynamics in East Asia, examining intersections with sovereignty, nation-building, and political participation. She also specializes in Cold War-era studies, analyzing Chiang Kai-shek’s military strategies and the role of women in propaganda through radio broadcasting 'soundscapes.' Currently, she serves as Secretary-General of the European Association of Taiwan Studies.
