Isabelle Anguelovski is a Research Professor at the Autonomous University of Barcelona's Institute of Environmental Science and Technology (ICTA), situated within the School of Social & Behavioural Sciences. She leads the 'Cities & Environmental Justice' research line, directs the Barcelona Lab for Urban Environmental Justice & Sustainability, and chairs the ICTA Gender, Diversity, Care, and Wellbeing Committee. Her work focuses on urban sustainability and justice in marginalized communities across Europe, the Americas, and South Africa.
Her research critically examines how urban planning policies and socio-environmental interventions impact equity in cities, with particular emphasis on displacement, gentrification, climate adaptation, and community resistance to environmental inequities. She investigates pathways toward more just, resilient, healthy, and sustainable urban futures through interdisciplinary analysis at the intersection of urban planning, social inequality, and development studies.
