Isabel Janeiro

Isabel Janeiro is an Associate Professor at the Department of Educational Psychology and Counseling, Faculty of Psychology, University of Lisbon. She teaches in the Bachelor, Master’s Degree in Psychology of Educational Psychology and Counseling, and the Inter-University Doctorate (Lisbon and Coimbra) in Educational Psychology. Her research focuses on vocational development, career adaptability strategies, coping styles, and the development of psychological assessment instruments and vocational intervention programs.

She leads the project Desenvolvimento de Identidade Vocacional e Narrativas de Carreira and has participated in significant initiatives like the UNESCO Chair in Lifelong Guidance and Counselling (since 2023). Her scientific work includes psychometric validations of instruments such as the Strategies for Confronting Career Indecision (SCCI) and the Time Perspective Inventory, with applications in Portuguese educational contexts.

Highlights of her academic activity include:

• Representative of the University of Lisbon in UNESCO Chair (2023-present)
• International representative of EuroPLAT network (2009-2012)
• Active member of the Scientific and Pedagogical Councils of the Faculty of Psychology (2014-2021)

Her publications analyze career dynamics, time perspective, and educational interventions, with a focus on Portuguese adolescents and secondary school students. She has also contributed to the adaptation and validation of international scales like the Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory (ZTPI) and the Satisfaction with Life Roles Scale (ESPV) in the Portuguese context.
