Irma Malafronte is a Senior Lecturer and Research Programme Leader at the Faculty of Business and Law, University of Roehampton. She holds a PhD in Banking and Finance from the University of Rome Tor Vergata and has worked at several Italian universities before joining Roehampton in 2016. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a Certified Management & Business Educator.
Her research focuses on corporate reporting, sustainability, and ESG performance. Key areas include integrated reporting, risk disclosure, and the role of corporate culture in reporting practices. She has secured grants from CIMA's General Charitable Trust for projects on ESG value creation and integrated reporting. Currently supervising three PhD students, she has also led the MBA programme and serves on Roehampton's Steering Committee for the Centre for Sustainability and Responsible Management.
Irma has published widely in journals like The British Accounting Review and Journal of Financial Services Research, and co-authored a seminal book on Solvency II. Her work explores the link between ESG practices and financial outcomes, with recent studies on carbon performance and climate governance. She is an external examiner at York University London and Lincoln International Business School, and chairs DEI initiatives at the European Accounting Association.
