Prof. Irina Kummert holds the position of Dean of the Faculty of Business & Law at Hamburg Distance Learning University (HFH) and is the Head of the People & Culture Management Program (B.A.). She is an Acting Professor for Human Resources Management in the Department of Economics and Law. Her academic career includes roles at Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences (2021–2022) and Humboldt University of Berlin (2009–2019). She is also a qualified supervisory board member certified by Deutsche Börse AG (2023) and holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Goethe University Frankfurt (2013).
Her research focuses on business ethics, leadership development, and the ethical implications of digital transformation in organizations. She leads a cooperative research project on qualification and personnel development (since 2022) and has published widely in journals such as ZRFC Zeitschrift für Risk, Fraud & Compliance and IFO Schnelldienst. She is the author of Strategien der Moral am Kapitalmarkt (2013) and co-author of Schwierigkeiten mit der Moral (2016).
Prof. Kummert actively engages in public discussions on ethics, appearing in panels at the World Economic Forum in Davos and delivering keynotes on topics like AI in HR and digital leadership. She chairs the Ethics Committee of the German Football Association (DFB) and is president of the Ethics Association of German Business. She also founded IKP Executive Search GmbH in 2003, offering strategic consulting to corporate boards.
Her work bridges academia and practice, emphasizing ethical frameworks for leadership, transparency in governance, and the societal impact of technology. She contributes to policy debates on corporate responsibility and compliance through media interviews and published columns in Manager Magazin since 2015.
