Irene Morlino

Dr. Irene Morlino is an LSE Fellow in European Security and Defence, researching EU humanitarian aid effectiveness in conflict and disaster settings. Her work combines policy analysis with empirical fieldwork in crisis zones.

Education: PhD International Relations (LSE), MA European Affairs (SciencesPo), BA Political Science (LUISS).

Research Focus: Examines operational coordination between EU/UN agencies in food assistance and pandemic response, with publications on COVID-19 governance in Italy and Germany. Awarded Dominique Jacquin-Berdal Prize for doctoral dissertation on EU aid effectiveness.

Teaching: Develops courses on European Security (IR434) and International Politics (IR410), recognized with LSE Class Teacher Award.

Engagement: Contributes to EU foreign policy debates through European Foreign Policy Unit working papers and NORTIA network.
