Inês Cláudia Rijo de Carvalho

Inês Cláudia Rijo de Carvalho is an Assistant Professor at Universidade Europeia in Lisbon, serving as the research coordinator at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Technology. She holds additional roles as a full researcher at CETRAD and collaborates with research units like GOVCOPP (University of Aveiro) and CIEG (University of Lisbon). Her academic background includes a PhD in Tourism, MSc in Management and Planning in Tourism (University of Aveiro), and a BA in Modern Languages and Literatures from the University of Coimbra. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Management at Lisbon School of Economics & Management (ISEG).

Her research focuses on intercultural relations in tourism, language tourism, AI applications in tourism (e.g., large language models), tourism and gender, and cultural tourism dynamics. She has led projects such as "The use of automatic translation tools in the tourism sector" (2023–2024) and contributed to studies like "Study of the Labor Market for the Tourism Sector" (2021–2022).

Her publications explore themes like gender inequality in tourism management, traveler attitudes toward machine translation, and the role of language skills in shaping travel experiences.
