Inés Macho-Stadler is an Emeritus Research Professor affiliated with the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) and the Barcelona School of Economics (Barcelona GSE). She holds dual academic heritage, having also taught at the Universidad del País Vasco from 1981 to 1984 and 1989 to 1991. Her career spans over four decades, beginning with roles as Assistant and Associate Professor before becoming a full Professor at UAB in 1998. She retired in 2024 but retains her Emeritus status and research fellowship at CESifo (since 2002) and Barcelona GSE (since 2007).
Research interests include the Economics of Innovation (focusing on spinoffs, patents, and public-private collaboration), Game Theory (with extensions to cooperative games with externalities), and applied fields like health economics, tax policy, and environmental regulation. She authored a seminal book on contract theory, translated into multiple languages, and has contributed to foundational work on incentives and information asymmetry.
