Ingvald Erfjord

Ingvald Erfjord is an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Agder. He holds a PhD in Mathematics Education (2008) and has extensive experience in teaching, supervision, and academic leadership. His roles include serving as Head of Department since 2018, Study Coordinator (part-time, 2011–2018), and examiner for over 100 master theses. He has supervised three current PhD students and successfully guided one to completion (Inger Norunn Nergaard, 2016).

Research focuses on children’s mathematics learning in early education and the integration of digital tools in teaching. He contributes to teacher training programs and has participated in expert panels for academic accreditation and PhD evaluations. His work emphasizes professional development and evidence-based practices in mathematics education.
