Ingrid Piller

Professor Ingrid Piller holds a joint appointment at the University of Hamburg's Faculty of Education and Macquarie University Sydney. Her research investigates language in multilingual societies, focusing on intercultural communication, language education policy, and migration. Awarded the Anneliese Maier Research Prize, she examines how linguistic diversity impacts educational access and social integration.

Piller leads projects on language acquisition in migration contexts and develops frameworks for inclusive language education. Her work bridges sociolinguistics, education policy, and social justice advocacy.
