Ingrid Femdal

Ingrid Femdal is an Associate Professor at the Department of Nursing, Health and laboratory science, Østfold University College, affiliated with the Faculty of Health and Welfare. She has been employed there since 1997, progressing from University Lecturer to Assistant Professor before achieving her current rank. Her academic background includes a Registered Nurse qualification from Østfold Nursing College (1991), specialization in Mental Health Nursing (1995), and a Master's degree in Nursing Science and Didactics from the University of Oslo (2002). She is currently pursuing a PhD at NTNU, Trondheim.

Her research focuses on mental health services, power dynamics in healthcare, application of drama/forum play in education, and supervision/coaching methodologies. She teaches courses such as Mental Health Services, Power Relations, Care of the Dying Patient, and Practical Procedures in Nursing Practice.

Recent work emphasizes leadership dynamics in nursing homes and person-centered care practices, digital technology in elderly care, and mentoring schemes for junior researchers. Over 30 peer-reviewed publications demonstrate her contributions to healthcare education and policy, with a particular emphasis on interprofessional collaboration and competency assessment in professional training programs.
