Ingo Schewe

Ingo Schewe serves as a Scientific Coordinator for the Alfred Wegener Institute (AWI), managing the operational and scientific activities of its flagship research vessels RV Polarstern and RV Heincke. Based in Bremerhaven, Germany, he leads the Logistics and Research Platforms department, ensuring efficient coordination of polar and marine research infrastructure. His research focuses on Arctic deep-sea ecosystems, benthic biota, and long-term ecological monitoring.

Dr. Schewe’s role integrates logistical expertise with scientific strategy, supporting AWI’s mission to advance understanding of polar and marine environments.
