Ingmar Lippert

Dr. Ingmar Lippert is an Associate Professor at the IT University of Copenhagen's Technologies in Practice Research Group and holds a joint position at Brandenburg University of Technology’s Chair of Technoscience Studies. He also serves as a visiting senior research fellow at the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin's Humanities of Nature unit. His work bridges Science and Technology Studies (STS), environmental sociology, and digital studies, focusing on the intersections of data practices, sustainability governance, and socio-technical systems.

Research Interests: Lippert examines the politics of data infrastructures in environmental monitoring, the socio-material dynamics of ecosystem services accounting, and the role of digital systems in shaping environmental knowledge. He critiques ontological assumptions in data governance and explores autochthonous perspectives on fossil fuels and digital heritage. His interdisciplinary approach combines ethnography, discourse analysis, and actor-network theory.

Key Collaborations: Co-PI of the Sociocultural Carbon project, affiliated with ETHOS Lab (ITU), and collaborator with institutions like the Museum für Naturkunde and the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research. He has coordinated research teams across Europe and Asia, including the EMS-RG group and the STS-focused Humanities of Nature unit.

Teaching and Supervision: Specializes in reflexive pedagogy for transdisciplinary challenges, with certifications in higher education teaching. Supervision focuses on digital society critiques (e.g., encryption, data accountability) and unsustainability topics (e.g., fossil fuels, ecosystem services).
