Ing Kong

Ing Kong is an Associate Professor in the Department of Engineering at La Trobe University. She holds a PhD and BSc in Materials Science from the National University of Malaysia (2009 and 2005) and a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education from the University of Nottingham (2015). Her research focuses on advanced materials, including functional polymer composites, magnetic nanoparticles, carbon nanomaterials, superconductors, and additive manufacturing technologies critical to Industry 4.0. She has authored/co-authored over 100 publications, including journal articles, conference proceedings, and book chapters. Dr. Kong has held academic roles at institutions like the University of Nottingham and RMIT University and serves on editorial boards for materials and mechanical engineering journals.

Her research spans interdisciplinary areas such as biocomposite development, flame-retardant materials, and sustainable additive manufacturing. Notable projects include the ARC Research Hub for Molecular Biosensors at Point-of-Use (MOBIUS) and consulting for Ritchie Technology on recycled plastic analysis. She teaches Engineering Materials and actively participates in professional activities like conference organization and peer review. Her work emphasizes practical applications in healthcare, environmental sustainability, and industrial innovation.

Dr. Kong’s collaborative research includes 3D-printed biocomposites for tissue engineering, antibacterial surface fabrication, and energy-efficient materials. Her editorial roles and international conference leadership highlight her contributions to advancing materials science globally.
