Ina Stelzer
Assistant Professor · Pregnancy Immunology
University of California, San DiegoAbout
Dr. Ina Stelzer is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology at University of California San Diego, specializing in reproductive immunology, neuroimmunology, and multi-omics approaches to pregnancy-related health. Her lab pioneers advanced single-cell proteomic techniques (CyTOF, IMC) and targeted neuromodulation to study maternal immune adaptations in healthy and pathological pregnancies.
- Education: BSc in Molecular Life Sciences (Maastricht University), MSc in Molecular Medicine (Charité Berlin), PhD in Reproductive Immunology (University Hamburg), Postdoc in Systems Immunology (Stanford University)
Her research integrates preclinical mouse models with translational human pregnancy cohorts to address critical questions in peripartum health management. Key areas include fetomaternal microchimerism, preterm birth prediction, and neuroimmune interactions during pregnancy.
Recent publications highlight her work on multi-omics biomarker discovery and computational modeling of maternal immune dynamics. She leads NIH-funded projects (R00HD105016, K99HD105016) on neuromodulation of maternal immunity.
The Stelzer lab hosts state-of-the-art mass cytometry instruments (XTi, Standard Biotools) accessible to internal and external collaborators. Her team bridges cutting-edge technology with clinical applications to improve maternal-child health outcomes.
