Imogene W. Bunch

Imogene W. Bunch is a Lecturer in the Department of English at Christopher Newport University (CNU), where she has taught since Fall 2003. She earned her MA in English from Old Dominion University (ODU) and a BA in English from CNU, graduating Summa Cum Laude in 2001.

Bunch’s research explores Rhetoric and Composition, Literature, Bereavement in Children & Young Adults, and Historic & Modern Piracy Biography. Her work bridges emotional resilience in literature with historical narratives of maritime outlaws.

She received both departmental and university-level Outstanding Teaching Assistant Awards during her studies at ODU. As a single mother after her spouse’s death in 1996, she prioritized immediate employment over advanced degrees.
