Ilene Prusher is a journalist, author, and adjunct professor in the Journalism Department at Florida Atlantic University (FAU), part of the School of Communication & Multimedia Studies. She holds an M.A. from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism and a B.A. from SUNY Albany. Her career includes two decades as a foreign correspondent for The Christian Science Monitor (1996–2010), covering Middle East conflicts and serving as bureau chief in Jerusalem, Istanbul, and Tokyo. More recently, she was TIME Magazine’s Jerusalem correspondent, a columnist at Haaretz, and a radio host at TLV1. At FAU, she advises the student newspaper and teaches courses on news reporting, public affairs coverage, and international journalism. Her novel Baghdad Fixer (2014) explores themes of war reporting in Iraq.
Prusher’s research interests focus on conflict reporting, Middle East politics, and the intersection of journalism with global affairs. Her articles frequently analyze Israeli-Palestinian dynamics, U.S. foreign policy, and humanitarian crises. Notable works include analyses of the Gaza conflict, Jerusalem’s status, and the impact of political decisions on democratic institutions.
