Ilan Dwek is a Lecturer at the University of Reading's Institute of Education, specializing in inclusive education with focus on deaf learners, SEND provision, and British Sign Language pedagogy. He teaches across primary PGCE and BA Education Studies programs, covering topics from inclusive teaching strategies to psychological theories of learning.
Dwek's research examines how mainstream educational experiences impact deaf individuals' identity formation, mental wellbeing, and employment outcomes. He investigates linguistic evolution of BSL, deaf cultural representation, and communication strategies for deaf-blind individuals. His doctoral research analyzed relationships between deaf educational histories, identity development, and employment success.
