About
Igor V. Rubtsov is Professor and Chair of the Department of Chemistry at Tulane University's School of Science & Engineering. His research develops novel methods for measuring 3D molecular structures in solution using nonlinear femtosecond spectroscopy techniques like two-dimensional IR spectroscopy.
Research Focus: Rubtsov Group specializes in ultrafast laser spectroscopy, biophysics, and energy transport mechanisms. Current projects include probing structural fluctuations in enzymes and developing advanced spectroscopic instrumentation.
Instrumentation: Designed a fully automated dual-frequency 2DIR spectrometer capable of capturing structural snapshots at physiological temperatures with coverage from 800-4000 cm⁻¹.
Recent Publications: Explore vibrational energy transfer in molecular systems, surface-enhanced spectroscopy, and phonon dynamics. Work featured in J. Chem. Phys., PNAS, and Accounts of Chemical Research.
