Igor Logvinenko is an Associate Professor of Diplomacy & World Affairs at Occidental College and a faculty affiliate of the John Parke Young Initiative on the Global Political Economy. His academic journey includes a B.A. from the University of Redlands, an M.A. from Villanova University, and a Ph.D. from Cornell University. Since joining Occidental in 2020, he has focused on global political economy, energy geopolitics, and authoritarianism.

His research explores how authoritarian regimes interact with global financial systems and the role of legal institutions in democratic erosion. Current projects include studies on renewable energy geopolitics and authoritarian populism. His 2021 book Global Finance, Local Control examines corruption and wealth dynamics in Russia. He has contributed to journals like Review of International Political Economy and Democratization, as well as popular outlets like the Washington Post.
Recent publications analyze topics ranging from financial openness in authoritarian states to gender impacts during the Ukrainian refugee crisis.
