Dr. Igor Komnik is affiliated with the Institute for Movement and Sports Gerontology and Institute of Biomechanics and Orthopaedics at Duale Hochschule Köln. His research focuses on biomechanical analysis of movement disorders, knee biomechanics, and rehabilitation strategies for musculoskeletal conditions. Formerly a PhD student in the Institute of Biomechanics and Orthopaedics, he now leads projects like Zwischen Gesundheit und Leistungsoptimierung – Boxen als Balanceakt im Leistungssport (2025–2026) and collaborates on studies involving wearable sensors and VR applications.
Research Interests:
- Biomechanics of knee osteoarthritis and arthroplasty outcomes
- Gait analysis in aging populations
- Workplace ergonomics and injury prevention
- Machine learning in healthcare diagnostics
Awards: Received the Qualitätsverbesserungsmittel (QVM) award for teaching innovation (2022).
