Ida van der Klei is a Full Professor in Molecular Cell Biology at the University of Groningen's Faculty of Science and Engineering. She leads the Molecular Cell Biology research group within the Groningen Biomolecular Sciences and Biotechnology Institute. Her work focuses on peroxisome and mitochondrial biology in yeast and fungi, leveraging advanced microscopy techniques.
Education: Master's in Biology (cum laude, 1986) and PhD in Microbiology (1991). Career highlights include EMBO and NWO fellowships, coordinating EU Marie Curie programs (PERFUME & PERICO), and editorial roles in Biochimica et Biophysica Acta and FEMS Yeast Research. She has supervised 30 PhD graduates and holds 3 patents.
