Ida Rovanto is a Visiting Professor in the Department of Information and Service Management at Aalto University. Her research focuses on Circular Economy, Business Models, and Sustainable Development. She holds a PhD in Business Administration (2022), an MSc in Information Systems (2018), and a BSc in Information Systems (2016). Her work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to responsible consumption and production.
Her research explores motivations for circular economy actions across countries, innovative business models in the textile industry, roles of small businesses in sustainability transitions, and systemic applications of circular frameworks in supply chains. Collaborations include international studies with Japan and Finland. Her publications address practical implementation challenges and cross-disciplinary approaches to sustainability.
Rovanto’s research outputs include peer-reviewed articles in journals like Journal of Business Ethics and Business Strategy and the Environment, as well as a doctoral thesis titled Small businesses in the circular economy — Change makers or rule takers?, which analyzes SMEs’ roles in circular economy adoption. Her work emphasizes actionable insights for enterprises and policymakers.
