Ibrahima Maiga is a Doctoral Researcher at the University of Hamburg, affiliated with the Cluster of Excellence 'Understanding Written Artefacts' (UWA) and the department 'H Exploring Multilingual Written Artefacts'. His work focuses on linguistic diversity within Ajami manuscripts from Mali, particularly Songhay dialects in Timbuktu, Jenne, and Gao. He is engaged in projects analyzing script styles, dialects, and languages in Islamic manuscripts.
Since 2021, he has held research positions in Hamburg, contributing to initiatives like RFH05 ('Script Styles versus Dialects and Languages: A Case for Songhay in Islamic Manuscripts of Timbuktu and Jenne'). In May 2023, he presented on linguistic diversity in Ajami manuscripts at an academic event.
