Ibrahim Magara

Dr. Ibrahim Magara is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Coventry University’s Centre for Trust, Peace and Social Relations (CTPSR) and an Adjunct Lecturer at St. Paul’s University in Kenya. He holds a PhD in International Politics from Loughborough University (2023), an MA in Peace Studies from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (2014), and a Philosophy degree from Pontifical Urbaniana University (2008). His research focuses on regional peace and security dynamics in Africa, particularly the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD)-led peace processes in South Sudan and the Horn of Africa. He has over a decade of field experience in peacebuilding, including roles with Catholic Relief Services (CRS) and contributions to media outlets like CGTN. Magara’s work addresses topics such as non-liberal peace frameworks, proxy wars, and gender dimensions in regional security.

Key Contributions: Co-organized workshops on peace operations at the European University Institute (2021) and authored blogs on African security trends. His recent publications analyze NGO roles in peacebuilding and South Sudan’s Tumaini Peace Initiative.
