Ian Trivers is a Senior Lecturer at Washington University in St. Louis, affiliated with the Sam Fox School. He holds a joint appointment with the Fair Transport Lab at Technion–Israel Institute of Technology as a Zuckerman Post-Doctoral Fellow. His research focuses on bus stop design as a critical element of fair transport systems and urban livability, alongside urban redevelopment, vacancy, and sustainable urbanism.
Trivers earned a Ph.D. in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Michigan and a Master of Planning from the University of Southern California. His professional experience includes roles as an investment officer at the AFL-CIO Housing Investment Trust, land use coordinator for Kaiser Permanente, and fellowships at the University of Pennsylvania’s Center for Urban Redevelopment Excellence (post-Hurricane Katrina recovery) and the China Academy of Urban Planning and Design.
At Washington University, he coordinates the Doctor of Sustainable Urbanism program and teaches courses on metropolitan development, research methods, and urban design. His academic contributions bridge urban policy, transport equity, and design innovation.
