Ian Sherrington

Ian Sherrington is an Associate Professor and Program Coordinator for the Ecotourism and Outdoor Leadership program at Mount Royal University's Faculty of Health and Physical Education. With over two decades of teaching experience, he specializes in outdoor leadership education across diverse terrains and seasons, supported by professional certifications in mountain guiding and outdoor recreation.

• BPE in Outdoor Pursuits, University of Calgary

Research and Instruction Focus: Outdoor leadership pedagogy, experiential education in remote environments, and curriculum development for outdoor programs. His work integrates field-based learning through international field schools in Norway and Baffin Island.

Community Engagement: Active in shaping national outdoor education standards, Ian served as Chair of the Outdoor Council of Canada's Curriculum Development Committee for 8 years and contributes to risk management practices through Enviros committee involvement.
