Ian Milligan is an Associate Vice-President, Research Oversight and Analysis at the University of Waterloo’s Office of Research, alongside being a Professor of History. His roles include leading research compliance, data management strategies, and bibliometrics. He holds a B.A. (Hons) from Queen’s University (2006), an M.A. and Ph.D. in Canadian History from York University (2007, 2012).
Milligan’s research focuses on web archives and their impact on historical practices. He authored books like *Averting the Digital Dark Age* (2024), *The Transformation of Historical Research in the Digital Age* (2022), and *History in the Age of Abundance* (2019). He co-edited the *SAGE Handbook of Web History* (2018) and led the Archives Unleashed project ($2.3M in grants).
