Ian McCarthy

Ian McCarthy is an Associate Professor and Interim Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of Economics at Emory University. He is also a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER). His research focuses on health economics, examining institutions, policies, and market structures influencing healthcare pricing and delivery. McCarthy holds a PhD in Economics from Indiana University (2008), an MA from the same institution (2007), and a BBA in Economics from the University of North Texas (2004).

Research Interests: Health Economics, Applied Microeconomics, Industrial Organization, and Econometrics. His work includes studies on hospital pricing dynamics, Medicare Advantage markets, and the impact of quality disclosures on healthcare choices.
