Professor Sir Ian L Boyd is a marine and polar scientist serving as a Professor at the University of St Andrews' School of Biology. He held the role of Chief Scientific Adviser to the UK Government on Food and the Environment for seven years and currently chairs the UK Research Integrity Office and leads the Royal Society of Biology as its President. His advisory roles include membership in SAGE during the pandemic and co-chairing Scotland’s Environment Council. He previously directed the Sea Mammal Research Unit and the Scottish Oceans Institute, focusing on marine conservation, climate policy, and sustainability.
