Dr. Ian Kinane is a Reader in Literature and Popular Culture at the Department of English and Creative Writing, University of Roehampton, UK. He serves as Director of the Centre for Research in Society, Culture, and Social Change and Programme Leader for the MA/PD in Children's Literature (by Distance Learning). He holds a Ph.D. in English Literature from the University of Dublin, Trinity College.
- Research expertise in 20th/21st century literature, spy fiction, postcolonial theory, and island studies
- General Editor of the International Journal of James Bond Studies and consultant for multiple academic journals
- Recipient of the Vice-Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching (2019) and UKRI funding (2023)
His recent publications include the monograph On the Very Edge: Bidentities in Michelle Cliff's Fiction (University Press of Mississippi, 2024) and Terror Incognita: Islands in the Tropical Gothic (forthcoming). He supervises PhD projects in areas spanning James Bond mythology, gender identities in dystopian fiction, and representations of marginalization in genre literature.
