Professor Ian J. Bateman OBE is Co-Director of the Land, Environment, Economics and Policy Institute (LEEP) at the University of Exeter Business School. His research integrates natural, physical, economic, and social sciences to advance sustainable wellbeing through policy and decision-making. He holds advisory roles with the Scottish Government's First Ministers’ Environmental Council, Defra, and served on the UK Natural Capital Committee (advising the Chancellor of the Exchequer) and the Joint Nature Conservation Committee Board.
Research Interests: Focuses on interdisciplinary solutions for sustainability, natural capital valuation, environmental policy design, and the economics of climate adaptation. His work spans environmental management, applied econometrics, and the socio-economic dimensions of ecological systems.
