About
Ian Goodfellow is Professor of Virology and Deputy Head of Department (Research) in the Department of Pathology at the University of Cambridge. He leads a research group focused on calicivirus virology, with specialization in noroviruses and viral translation mechanisms.
Research Interests:
His work spans three primary areas: 1) Proteomic and structural analysis of calicivirus translation initiation complexes to identify antiviral therapeutics; 2) Characterization of viral replication complex formation using imaging and biochemical approaches; 3) Mapping RNA-protein interactions critical for norovirus replication and attenuation strategies.
Funding & Resources:
Research is supported by BBSRC, Marie Curie, MRC, and Wellcome Trust. He directs a laboratory team conducting interdisciplinary virology research within Cambridge Infectious Diseases.
