Ian Gadd is a Professor in English Literature at Bath Spa University. He serves as Academic Director of the Global Academy of Liberal Arts and Head of Development of European Projects, managing EU-funded initiatives for the institution. He was President of the Society for the History of Authorship, Reading, and Publishing (SHARP) from 2013 to 2017 and a General Editor of the Cambridge Edition of the Works of Jonathan Swift. Additionally, he chairs the Board of the Bath Royal Literary and Scientific Institution.
His doctoral research focused on the Stationers’ Company, and he has taught related courses at Rare Book School and the Folger Shakespeare Library. He is a Freeman of the Stationers’ Company and has published extensively on its historical activities.
His research spans the history of authorship, reading practices, and publishing, with a particular emphasis on early modern print culture and the legacy of Jonathan Swift. He contributes to international academic networks through leadership roles and collaborative projects.
