Ian Fox is a musicologist and lecturer in music with over 50 years of experience as a broadcaster, critic, and academic. He currently serves as a Governor of the Royal Irish Academy of Music (RIAM), elected by its members. His roles include presenting music lectures at the Royal Dublin Society and contributing to radio programs, such as the award-winning Bloomenlied analyzing music in Joyce's Ulysses.
He has written extensively for festivals (West Cork, Kilkenny, Galway), orchestras (National Symphony Orchestra), and recitals, alongside authoring 100 Nights at the Opera (1991), a history of the Wexford Festival. His journalism spans two decades with the Sunday Tribune and ongoing contributions to OPERA magazine (London). He is a member of London's Critics' Circle and the Royal Dublin Society Council.
In parallel to academia, Fox has held senior marketing roles, including brand management at Unilever, leadership in advertising agencies, and executive positions with Ireland's Institute of Advertising Practitioners and Advertising Standards Authority.
