Professor Ian Coxhead is an economist at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, specializing in growth, trade, and development with a regional focus on emerging and transitional economies in Asia. He joined the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics in 1991 and served as department chair from 2012. Coxhead also holds an Honorary Professorship at the Australian National University's Arndt-Corden Department of Economics since 2016.
Research Interests: Coxhead's work examines labor markets, migration, and educational choices as mechanisms through which individuals and households in developing economies respond to policy reforms, globalization, and global shocks. His research spans topics such as institutional education gaps during Vietnam's economic boom and the impact of economic changes on household decision-making.
