Ian Chamberlain

Ian Chamberlain is a Lecturer in the ACE - Art and Design department at the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol). His work focuses on reinterpretation of manmade structures as architectural metaphors, particularly exploring technological and historical contexts. His practice integrates traditional printmaking techniques like etching with contemporary subject matter.

Research interests include drawing as a method of inquiry, printmaking processes, and the intersection of technology with architectural forms. Notable projects involve the 'Atlantic Wall' WWII defense system and structures like Goonhilly Earth Station and Maunsell Sea Forts. His work is exhibited internationally, including in London, Hong Kong, Sydney, New York, Barcelona, and Berlin.

Teaching expertise spans all areas of printmaking with specialization in etching/intaglio processes. His creative output serves as a visual historical record of sites he has documented through drawing and printmaking.
