About
Associate Professor Iain Searle is a faculty member in the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Adelaide, affiliated with the Molecular and Biomedical Science department. His research focuses on epigenetics, RNA modifications, and plant-animal interactions in environmental adaptation. He leads projects on sustainable biocontrols for grapevine crown gall, drought-resistant crops like common vetch, and pollination mechanisms in Brassica rapa. He actively supervises Honours, Masters, PhD, and postdoctoral researchers in synthetic biology, CRISPR technologies, and bioinformatics.
- Research interests include plant epigenetics, lncRNA functions, and agricultural biocontrol development.
- Develops genomic resources for Vicia sativa and studies pathogenic strains of Agrobacterium.
- Promotes outcrossing mechanisms in crops to enhance yield and biodiversity.
Publications span epigenetic regulation, crop genomics, and pathogen biology. Collaborates with industry partners and national breeding programs. Contact: iain.searle@adelaide.edu.au.
