Iain Perkes

Dr Iain Perkes is a Senior Lecturer at the University of New South Wales, Faculty of Medicine & Health, School of Psychiatry, with significant national and international recognition in child and adolescent mental health, particularly pediatric obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).

His qualifications include:

Dr Perkes' research focuses on OCD, behavioral neuroscience, neuroimaging, and child and adolescent mental health services. He established and leads the Kids Research Mental Health initiative (2022) and the NSW-wide pediatric OCD clinical research translation service (OCD BOUNCE, 2021) within the Sydney Children's Hospital Network.

His research portfolio spans neurodevelopmental disorders, Tourette syndrome, and ADHD, with emphasis on translating findings into clinical practice through national collaborations.

Dr Perkes co-leads Child and Adolescent Psychiatry teaching with Dr Daniel Lin and supervises Honours and PhD candidates. He actively engages with media and public discourse on child mental health, having appeared on Sydney radio and contributed to discussions about youth psychiatric services.
