Iain Field

Associate Professor Iain Field is a private law scholar and Chief Examiner at the TC Beirne School of Law, University of Queensland, and an Honorary Associate Professor at Bond University. His research focuses on tort law, particularly defences and damages, with publications in leading journals such as the Cambridge Law Journal and Modern Law Review. He has co-authored works with senior judiciary members and presented globally.

He has received multiple awards, including the 2022 Australian Legal Research Award and the 2015 Stanley Shaw Bond Prize for Teaching Excellence. Iain has held editorial roles, including Managing Editor of the University of Queensland Law Journal and General Editor of the Bond Law Review.

His research interests span tort law defences, damages, and legal theory, contributing to scholarly discourse through over 20 publications and conference presentations. He actively engages in academic leadership and legal education, balancing research and administrative roles.
