Iain Brodie

Iain Brodie serves as an Academic Associate at Ontario Tech University, teaching in Bachelor of Education (BEd) and Bachelor of Arts (BA) programs. With nearly 35 years of total teaching experience—including 28 years instructing grades 1-8 in Scarborough public schools—he now prepares future educators in foundational coding, mathematics, and innovative instructional methodologies while actively deconstructing outdated pedagogical frameworks.

Brodie's work centers on replacing traditional assessment structures with learner-centered approaches aligned with cognitive science. He champions problem-based learning (PBL) and inquiry-based methodologies across educational contexts, emphasizing practical applications in computational thinking and mathematical reasoning. His scholarship prioritizes how students naturally learn over institutional conventions, particularly in K-12 teacher preparation.
