Hyon Min Shin

Hyon Min (Catherine) Shin is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Occupational Therapy at the USC Chan Division of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy, University of Southern California. She is affiliated with the MSOP Lab and contributes to the ReHaB Core research initiatives. Her work focuses on integrating technology with occupational therapy practices to enhance workplace safety and accessibility in emerging industries like teleoperation.

Research & Expertise: Dr. Shin’s interests include teleoperation human factors, occupational equity in healthcare, and pediatric therapy. She co-leads a $1.8M NSF-funded project on multi-sensory teleoperation workstations to support diverse construction workers. Her work emphasizes DEI (diversity, equity, inclusion) in healthcare and higher education.

Advising & Grants: She serves on the Admissions Team at USC Chan and contributed to a test film project for pandemic-safe film production (2020). Her research is funded via NSF’s Future of Work program.

Labs/Teams: Active in the MSOP Lab and ReHaB Core, collaborating with engineers and ICT experts on human-centered occupational solutions.
