Hye-Ryoung Kang is a Lecturer in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Colorado. Previously, she served as an Assistant Professor of Philosophy at the University of Nevada, Reno. She holds dual PhDs: one in Philosophy from CU Boulder and an earlier degree from Korea, alongside a graduate certificate in Women and Gender Studies from CU.
Her research focuses on global justice and gender injustice, particularly analyzing systemic inequalities in the global political economy. She is currently working on a book titled *Retrieving Inequality and Injustice in the Global Political Economy*, advocating for a non-ideal theory approach to justice. Teaching passions include fostering critical thinking, problem-solving, and academic success among students, with a focus on socially diverse and ethically complex topics.
She teaches courses ranging from introductory philosophy to advanced topics in global ethics, human rights, and political philosophy. Outside academia, she enjoys outdoor activities like forest-bathing and snowshoeing in Boulder’s natural spaces.
