Hunter Augeri

Hunter Augeri is a Lecturer in Special Programs at Duke University, affiliated with the Department of English and the Gender, Sexuality & Feminist Studies Program within Trinity College of Arts & Sciences. He is a PhD candidate in English at Duke and a Wertheim Scholar at the New York Public Library.

Research Interests: Augeri explores intersections of American literature and art, focusing on hoarding practices, found poetry, suburban poetics, and archival studies. His dissertation, How to Save America: The Arts and Cultures of Hoarding, examines hoarding as a cultural and artistic phenomenon. He also investigates suburban landscapes as sites for reorienting social cohesion and poetic intervention.

Teaching: Augeri teaches interdisciplinary courses such as Cults & Conspiracies and Alternative Autobiographies, integrating film, art, and music into literary analysis. His pedagogy emphasizes experimental storytelling and critical engagement with fringe communities.

Awards & Recognition: Recognized as a Wertheim Scholar at the New York Public Library, Augeri’s work includes curating exhibitions on artists like Wally Depew and creating multimedia projects such as Mon/Ruin and Western Plateaus.
