Prof. Hujun Yin is a Professor of Artificial Intelligence at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, University of Manchester. He holds a Turing Fellowship (2018-2023) and serves as Chair of the IEEE CIS UK Ireland Chapter. His research focuses on AI, machine learning, deep learning, and their applications in vision systems, medical imaging, agriculture, and engineering. He leads a team with expertise in interdisciplinary and industrial applications, supported by advanced GPU resources.
Education: BEng (Electronic Engineering) and MSc (Signal Processing) from Southeast University, PhD in Neural Networks from University of York.
Research interests include neural networks, self-organizing systems, image recognition, and bioinformatics. Notable projects involve recycling industry vision systems, plant disease detection via multispectral imaging, and surrogate models for engineering simulations.
He has authored 164+ publications, led 17 projects, and received awards including the Best Paper Award (IDEAL 2017) and Turing Fellowship. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to industry innovation and climate action.
