Hui Zhu

Dr. Hui Zhu is a Professor of Finance at Ontario Tech University's Faculty of Business and Information Technology. She holds a PhD in Economics from Queen’s University (2010) and has held prior academic positions at Cape Breton University (Assistant Professor) and a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Calgary. Her research focuses on fixed-income securities, IPO dynamics, corporate innovation, CSR, and international finance, with over 25 refereed journal articles and book chapters. She actively participates in global conferences such as the Financial Management Association and European Financial Management Association.

Research Interests: Dr. Zhu’s work bridges financial markets and corporate behavior, analyzing how cultural, regulatory, and institutional factors influence capital structure, innovation, and investor decisions. Recent studies examine CSR’s impact on bond ratings, IPO underpricing across cultures, and the effects of the JOBS Act on debt markets.

Professional Involvement: She has presented at over 30 international conferences since 2007, including the Financial Management Association (annual) and European Financial Management Association. Her research group explores cross-border finance, leveraging advanced analytics to address market inefficiencies.
